Where are you located?
We are located in Cat Spring, Texas between Sealy and Columbus.
Can I come visit?
We love visitors and volunteers, but you must have an appointment or be an approved volunteer. To become an approved volunteer, please complete a volunteer application form.

What is the process for adopting and/or fostering an animal?
You will need to complete the appropriate application which can be found in the Forms section. Once your forms are submitted, someone will contact you to schedule a site visit. It’s that easy!
How much does it cost to adopt an animal?
The fees vary depending on the type of animal you are adopting. The fees help us pay for bailing the animals out of the kill pens or shelters, quarantining them, vet checks, immunizations and worming, and spay/neuters or gelding.
How does fostering work?
Our foster homes are the key to the entire program! Without their big hearts and generous spirit, we would not be able to rescue the animals we do. They, too, must complete an application to be approved.
Animal fosters are not responsible for the financial part of the vetting. We really appreciate it when fosters can help with food and supplies. However, if that is not possible, SBR will cover the costs. For more detailed information on fostering please review the “Foster Home Checklist” and “Foster Contract” in the Forms section.

How long does it take to adopt?
It varies. Some adoptions take as little as a few days to complete while others may take several weeks. If the adopter has flexiblity with scheduling the home visit, the adoption often occurs very quickly.
Can I meet the animal I want to adopt before I apply?
Yes, as long as you are pre-approved for adoption. In fact, we encourage you to meet the animal you are interested in and its foster, as our goal is to create the perfect match!
Are there any tax benefits to fostering?
Potentially, yes! Since Storybook Rescues Inc. is a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt organization, certain expenses incurred on behalf of your animal may be tax deductible. This includes dog/cat food, hay, grain, fly spray, halters, leads, shavings, etc. Please consult with your accountant for tax advice and more information.
